While we congratulate NDUUSA for your altruism, we are indebted to you for your passion for charitable endeavors, on behalf of those in need in both America and Nkporo. Your pledge to champion the development of Nkporo, our mother land is quite remarkable. We also congratulate and commend the good work of the founding members and the executive committees through the years to build this union. Today we are better and bigger, yet the future is very bright for Nkporo. Gone are those days when we think we can sit and dream endlessly and believe we can use mere imaginations to support our cultural growth in the United States.

On behalf of the Onwuka family, I gratefully acknowledge and express deep appreciation to many wonderful people of our great town Nkporo who have made this event possible. I am indebted to all the thoughtful and incisive great men and women who made personal sacrifices to organize this event. Martin Luther King Once said, ”We must skillfully and intellectually prepare ourselves to live in an integrated society. Whatever you choose as your work, do it well. Don’t be content with sheer mediocrity. Do your job so well that nobody could do it better. Do it so well that the hosts of Heaven and Earth will have to say, ‘Here lived a man who did his job as if God Almighty called him at this particular moment in history to do it’… We’ve come a long way, but we’ve still got a long, long way to go. If you can’t run, walk. If you can’t walk, crawl. But by all means keep moving.” When we started this journey years ago, they were some “Doubting Thomas” as to our capabilities and ability to discharge our duties effectively to successful convention, To the best of my knowledge, we all have gone beyond that call of duty, or by the way, we have done what Napoleon could not have done. 2010 convention in New Jersey and 2011 convention in Boston were huge success. May the God of heavens continue to bless all our contributions for a better New York convention and better Nkporo for now and in the days to come. I always believe that if, it has to be, it’s up to us, then if it’s not us, who? If it not now? When? Our parents and grandparents did so much for our town development. They built our roads and bridges, our primary and secondary schools. Now they are falling apart. Students are attending classes in buildings without doors and windows and taking their entrance exams in broken desks. What have our generation done for our town that our children will be proud of tomorrow. This is the time for us to stand together and do something for community for united we stand and divided we fall.

The family of Chief Ilum Ifegwu and Chief Mrs. Iroka Ilum Ifegwu (Omeroeha and Owuruoha) extends our congratulatory message to the NDU-USA New York branch and NDU-USA in general on her third Annual Fundraising Convention at New York State 2012.
